Bei bereits erfolgter Bezahlung sofort die Bank anrufen und versuchen, den Transfer zu stoppen. Es ist kein Vertrag zustande gekommen. Der angebliche Verkäufer hat die Ware nicht angeboten, die Adresse wurde nur von Betrügern benutzt. Nicht auf die Mails antworten. Keine Anhänge öffnen. Nicht auf Links in Mails klicken. Meldung an eBay über diesen Link zum Kontaktformular, auf den kleinen Link "E-Mail" gehen und den Fall beschreiben, den Verkaufsaccount nennen und die erhaltene Mail anfügen.

In letzter Zeit werden Accounts in allen Ländern angemeldet und auch Artikelbeschreibungen in der jeweiligen Landessprache kopiert. Ein Takeover wird oft ehackter Accountgenannt, obwohl kein Hackerangriff im ursprünglichen Sinn stattfand. Meist hat der Account-Inhaber vorher auf eine Phishingmail reagiert und auf einer gefälschten Einlog-Seite selbst sein Passwort eingegeben. Eventuell merkt man es selbst gar nicht, denn man wird danach ganz unauffällig in ein eBay-Forum weitergeleitet.
